Rising to Europe’s Challenges: The Economic Perspective – 10th RGS Doctoral Conference in Economics

The aim of the conference is to facilitate the exchange and discussion of research ideas and results on an international level by bringing together around 60 top PhD students and experienced researchers, and members of RGS Econ’s more than 35 faculty from the universities of Dortmund, Duisburg-Essen, and Bochum as well as the RWI, one of Germany’s leading economic research institutes, in a professional and social forum. The conference serves to provide a stimulating environment in which doctoral students from a variety of top universities and research institutions can exchange ideas, establish informal networks and initiate future collaborative research.

Both empirical and theoretical papers will be considered. The range of topics covers all research areas in Economics including

Macroeconomics and Monetary Economics
Experimental and Behavioral Economics
Financial Markets
International Economics
Public Economics
Health Economics
Labour and Demographic Economics
Industrial Organization
Migration Economics
Urban, Real Estate, and Regional Economics

The conference will be divided into 18-24 topic-oriented, parallel sessions, with a total of 54 – 72 presentations. There will be special sessions and two keynote speeches devoted to the conference’s focus on European Economic and Integration Policy. The keynote speakers are Werner Hoyer (President of the European Investment Bank) and Paul DeGrauwe (LSE, CESifo, CEPR, CEPS).

The conference also involves a presentation by McKinsey & Company, followed by a conference dinner where participants have the opportunity to discuss their ideas and interests with fellow doctoral students, professors from the hosting institutions, and representatives from McKinsey & Company.
